Forensic Accident Reconstructionist

Jerry Key is retired from the Huntsville, Alabama Police Department where he served as the city’s Principle Crash Reconstructionist from 1998 until his retirement in 2010. Jerry was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit as a Crime Scene Investigator in 2006 and served as both a Crime Scene Investigator and Principle Crash Reconstructionist until 2010. During his 25 years as a police officer, Jerry investigated over 3000 motor vehicle crashes, and was assigned to full-time traffic enforcement duties for 13 years. He was also trained and certified as a Federal Motor Carrier Inspector.

Jerry received his accident reconstruction training through The Institute of Police Technology and Management at the University of North Florida. Jerry was the owner of Forensic Scene Analysis and worked with attorneys and insurance companies on serious injury and fatal crashes before joining MSC.

Today, Jerry’s accident reconstruction work focuses on rapid response to catastrophic losses, accident reconstruction, and analysis of vehicle electronic data. 

Jerry has instructed classes on Forensic Mapping in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Alabama. In addition, he instructed and certified members of the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, the Huntsville Police Department, Guntersville Alabama Police Department and the Madison County Alabama Sheriff’s Department in Forensic Mapping.

On a personal level Jerry supports St. Jude’s Hospital and the ASPCA. Away from work Jerry enjoys golfing, camping, snow skiing, hiking and spending time with his granddaughter, Autumn.
